{Event Details} Santa Barbara Wedding

We recently had the pleasure of creating wedding details for Tracy and Todd, a couple getting married in beautiful Santa Barbara.

The couple was having their intimate wedding reception at San Ysidro Ranch, a beautifully romantic hideaway.

We wanted the wedding details to fit the rustic, romantic setting of Santa Barbara wine country.

The wedding weekend itinerary was printed on ivory card stock and embellished with a jute cord bow.

Titles in dark gold ink gave a nice contrast to the earth tones in the jute.

Since the reception was intimate, and there would only be three tables, the couple wanted the table numbers to reflect significant dates in their relationship. Instead of having traditional table numbers, each table number here stood for a special date.

The day they met.... at the Snake Pit Ale House, (who knew you could find romance in house of snakes?) The bride lucked out in finding herself a charmer in Todd.

(the serpent makes the "5" in the "15" since the place they met had a snake in the logo; what a fun, not-too-serious way to make a nod to where you first laid eyes on each other!)

The table numbers and the menus were also printed on ivory card stock, then backed with a beautiful shimmery bronze card stock.

For other reception details, Jillian wrote information on cute coordinating framed chalkboards that fit the rustic feel of the venue.

For the cocktail hour, Jillian wrote the name of their specialty cocktail...the blood orange margarita (sounds delicious!)

For the guest book, guests made a thumbprint with ink and then signed their names...have you seen this idea? So cute!

For escort cards, the couple also had guests replace their names with a picture of themselves when they arrived.

I'm not sure exactly how the couple did it, but I've seen a similar idea here, where you take a picture with a Polaroid camera the couple has at the table. Such a creative way to capture the moment!

There are so many beautiful ways to incorporate rustic details into a beautifully romantic event. We'll have more rustic wedding details to come in a few weeks.

{Frosting Friday} Tags for the Teen Choice Awards

Happy Friday!

Recently we had an awesome opportunity to create tags for an event in honor of the Teen Choice Awards.

We joined forces with our good friends at Sweet E's Bake Shop, who provided the yummy cake pops for the 102.7 KIIS-FM Gifting Lounge, which was a party in honor of the 14th Annual Teen Choice Awards.

We created two different types of cake pop tags: one that said, "102.7 KIIS-FM" and the other said "Teen Choice Awards." Both tags had a scalloped background in bright summery shades of red, blue, and yellow.

We were happy to be a part of this fun event, and also to see photos of all the stars enjoying the cake pops topped with our tags! :)

I'm feeling the need for a cupcake right about now....

{Logo Design} Strings of Strength

  When I was younger, I was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and was given only 6 months left to live by my doctors. So I know the value and importance of what it means to have community support and involvement towards a cause. My family benefited from my local Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles RonaldMcDonald House, Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well as my fellow neighborhood coming together to hold can drives and bake sales in my honor to raise money for my fight against cancer. All of those caring people involved helped me to be the healthy successful woman that I am today. Thankfully, I became a miracle instead of a statistic. Cancer taught me adversity. “No” was not an answer. “Death” was not an option. My mind set was focused on only LIFE. I knew that I was meant for great purpose, and I was given a second chance at life. Now I am here sharing my talents and passions, through my baby,
2 Hearts B 1 Designs.
With every closed door, I found a window and failure was no option for me.
My boutique business has offered me the opportunity to help others celebrate life’s great moments.

Because of what I have been through, I therefore give back when the opportunity presents itself. I have donated my time, effort, energy, designs, and paper goods towards charitable events, galas, and auctions to raise funds for great causes in my community. 

 Most recently, destiny brought me to meet Shari Woldenberg. She had this beautiful idea of creating a specific piece of jewelry with a dorje charm that symbolizes "indestructible" with different colors of string to identify the support of patients and health related charities.  I was honored and touched to hear her story. Shari is a 10 year survivor of non-hodgkins lymphoma and an allogeneic transplant. Since that time, she has wanted to find a way to empower patients undergoing similar health challenges. We bonded over “Strings of Strength” and the commonality of us both being cancer survivors. I was excited to be able to help her start-up business by donating my efforts to create her a logo and develop her brand. In return, I gained one of her necklaces representing Stand up to Cancer and a beautiful friendship in the process. Our two hearts are now strung together as one.

Before her diagnosis, Shari had visited the Himalayas and purchased some Tibetan prayer beads. They consisted of the beads and two silver charms hanging from a silk tassel.

Each charm means something, and one of them in particular is a symbol meaning
"diamond thunderbolt" or "indestructible."
She hoped that these symbols of encouragement would help other patients going through similar challenges. Shari instructed that she wanted to incorporate the similar shape formation of the charm into her logo. So I used the intricate design of the charm as inspiration for the swirled design in the background.

Each necklace showcases this "indestructible" charm (called a "dorje"), from your choice of several different color cords. Each color represents a different charity, and $5 from each purchase goes toward that charity. For example, this purple cord on this necklace represents the
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
When you purchase this necklace, $5 goes towards supporting the NCADV.

Red (AIDS, Project Los Angeles)




 Pink (EIF's Women's Breast Cancer Awareness)

{Wedding Details} Sparkling & Sweet

Good morning!

On Friday we gave you a sneak peek at the dessert table from our friend Erica's wedding last November. Today we wanted to show you some of the other details we did for her, and sum it up with the full details of that gorgeous dessert table!

But let's start with her invitations.
Erica fell in love with this enclosure from Meri Meri, and asked if we could design an invitation incorporating this enclosure.

For her invitation and rsvp card, we used a shimmer ivory paper backed with a white glitter card stock. 

The rsvp card displayed Erica and Adi's monogram on the top.

Both the rsvp envelope and the invitation envelope were a shimmer ivory to match the invitation.


The programs displayed Erica and Adi's monogram and were tied with a white satin ribbon.


The place cards were decorated with the same trim that graced the heart on the wedding invitation enclosure. All the tiny crystal beads give a diamond-encrusted effect.
Jillian wrote each guest's name in calligraphy.


The menus also displayed the monogram.
I love how each one had a lovely gardenia placed on top.

Now on to the gorgeous dessert table we promised you!
Since Erica owns a bake shop, of course her wedding dessert table
would be a delicious display of decadent desserts.
She wanted to display a sign that said, "Love is Sweet." Erica wanted it to stand out but also be proportional to the dessert table. We had a few logistical challenges to figure out since she couldn't hang anything behind it (as you can see, the table is against the window). So we put our thinking caps on and figured out a way to make the sign part of the table.

We hand-glittered the letters in "Sweet," and adhered each of them to a wooden post, which was then inserted in a jar filled with decorative weights (white balls which looked like gum balls). We strung the "Love" portion of the sign on ribbon, tied it to two wooden dowels, and also anchored these with weight-filled jars. The "is" sign dangles from clear wire tied to the ribbon.

I think the effect was quite lovely, don't you?

We created the tags that labeled the desserts, and Jillian wrote the name of each delight in calligraphy.

We created heart-shaped tags for the favor boxes that said,
"Thank you for sharing in the Sweetest Moment of our lives."

Christmas In July

I can't believe July only has five short days left. Where is the time going?

Thankfully we still have lots of summertime left here in California. Even so, here at 2 Hearts B 1 Designs, we are already thinking about Christmas....yes, Christmas!

I wanted to share with you some inspiration we are using to create patriotic-themed Christmas cards for a client this year.

To get our creative juices flowing, we've been browsing Pinterest as well as some of our favorite holiday creations from the past (more posts on these as the holidays get a little closer!)

At first thought, it might seem a little difficult to combine the ideas of Christmas with patriotism, but in reality, the two concepts come together quite beautifully!

In the design process, we've found it inspiring to combine the rich reds and greens associated with Christmas with the deep navy of the American flag. 

I am also loving the idea of adding a soft, natural element with a light khaki or taupe color.
