{Design} Leighton's Woodland Fairy Birthday Invitation

One of our wonderful clients, Jacqueline, came to us with the idea of doing a woodland fairy birthday party for her daughter's 4th birthday. She gave us a few images of inspiration, and together this is what we came up with:

It's elegant while still being young with a touch of whimsy…we really loved the outcome!

Invitations were rolled up and wrapped with this leaf-embellished ribbon:

Then adorned with a tiny "Once Upon a Time…" tag and a whimsical, sparkly ornament...

Each invitation was then placed in a coordinating purple box and nestled in some moss.

Jillian finished each invitation by writing each guest's name in white calligraphy:

A truly magical result, don't you think? :)

{Calligraphy Monday} Teacher Appreciation + A Giveaway

On this Monday morning, we're featuring a special project we did for a client who wanted to say thank you to a special teacher.

Our client Jacob had a wonderful experience in his Spanish class--the students just seemed to have a special connection, both with each other and with the teacher. So to commemorate the class, the students took a class picture and are mounting it along with this calligraphy message on a special plaque, to present to their professor!

We love this beautiful message, expressing how inspiring a teacher can be!

Soooo….

In honor of April being National Letter-Writing Month, we wanted to encourage our readers to write a thank you note to someone who's inspired you or to someone you appreciate…and we're making it easy for you by giving away four sets of our letterpress thank you notes!

Each set contains four thank you notes, with a variety of ways to say "thanks"! Your set may include "Thanks," "Grazie," "Merci," or "Gracias" (or any combination of these).

To enter...

All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment below letting us know who your most inspiring teacher was and why. What was it about them that had such an impact on you? We can't wait to hear!

Four random winners will be announced on the blog on Friday, so be sure to check back to see if you're a winner!

Don't forget you can also follow along on Facebook to stay up to date!

Write On…

Lastly, this giveaway is also in support of Egg Press and Hello Lucky's WRITEON letter writing campaign launched this month. Handwritten letters are becoming increasingly important in our digital world (check out this awesome New York Times article here), and we believe in writing letters! The campaign encourages people to write 30 letters in 30 days. For more information, check out the campaign details here…and if you choose to write a letter or thank you note, make sure to share online (#WRITE_ON), and also tag us if you use our letterpress stationery! :)

Have a thankful week! :)

{Design} Minnie Mouse Themed 1st Birthday Invitation

A first birthday is a big deal!

So many fun themes and ideas to choose from, where does one start? We don't have children of our own yet, but sometimes I already find myself thinking about cute first birthday ideas for our future children! ;) Am I alone on this?…Maybe it's just my party-planning brain on overdrive! ;)

From our experience creating first birthday invitations, a good place to start is usually with something your one year old loves…whether that's a specific character from a TV show, a movie, a color, or even a food!

One of our clients came to us recently with a request for a Minnie Mouse-themed first birthday invitation. We loved this idea, since we love all things Disney ourselves!

And here's what we came up with:

So fun!
While we didn't get to see pictures of sweet little Ava's actual party, we found plenty of inspiration for Minnie Mouse-themed birthdays~take a look and see!

Like this adorable bright pink, black, and white 5th birthday from Triple M Good Parties:

And look at this gorgeous cake from this party!

And I love the muted pinks from this 3rd birthday party…what a stunning dessert table!

 {Both photos via}

See what I mean? So many pretty and festive options to choose from, even when you've narrowed down your theme! :) That's when it's all about choosing details and elements that are representative of your little one's personality, or simply details that you love as the momma! :)

What are your favorite first birthday ideas? We'd love to know!
And we'd love to help you create a custom invitation for your little one's next big birthday as well! Let us know how we can help :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

{Calligraphy Monday} A Little Bit of Burlap...

If you do a search on Pinterest for "burlap," you'll come up with a thousand amazing uses for this unassuming textile. From table runners to wreaths, pillow covers to hair bows, there are so.many.ways to use it!

We thought we'd add to the repertoire of ideas with this simple concept for a place card:

Simply take a thin strip of burlap, and attach it to the bottom of your place card as a border. We attached it using staples to give it even more of a 'rustic' feel--but you could also use hot glue, or perhaps even super tape, to get the job done.

A simple calligraphy style for your guests' names completes the look.

Perfection.

Can't you see this on the tables for a rustic wedding, or even a special birthday?
The burlap can be taken into other elements of the table, or just kept on the place cards for a little texture.

Are you still using burlap for your parties and events? Do you think it will be around for awhile longer? What do you think the next "in" fabric or texture will be?

Have a wonderful Monday!

{Design} Pink & Gray Giraffe Baby Shower Invitation

As we mentioned earlier this week, it is officially baby season--so along with our usual wedding ideas, we are here to provide you with lots of baby ideas and inspiration as well! :)

We created this invitation a couple of years ago for a dear friend of ours. Kristin and Mark were expecting their first baby girl, so we had the honor and pleasure of designing a sweet pink and gray  giraffe-themed shower invitation for Kristin.

We started with a shimmer gray petal enclosure, and used gray satin ribbon as a sash. A sweet paper flower finishes it off with a touch of pink. The matte gray envelopes are also given a fun dose of pink with the polka dot liner. Envelope liners make such a statement!

Open up the enclosure and you see the invitation, matted with light pink card stock.

The sweet giraffe was actually a stamp that we hand-stamped on each and every invite! Its nose and ears got a little touch of pink glitter, as well as a few other select places in the text.

The effect is simple and sweet! We love this theme!

Have you held or attended a giraffe-themed baby shower? We'd love to hear details!
It's such a pretty idea for a shower or a nursery.

We have another giraffe-themed invitation coming up on Friday, so make sure to stop by for even more sweet baby girl shower ideas! Have a wonderful day!
