{Wedding Details} Sparkling & Sweet

Good morning!

On Friday we gave you a sneak peek at the dessert table from our friend Erica's wedding last November. Today we wanted to show you some of the other details we did for her, and sum it up with the full details of that gorgeous dessert table!

But let's start with her invitations.
Erica fell in love with this enclosure from Meri Meri, and asked if we could design an invitation incorporating this enclosure.
Photo via Meri Meri

For her invitation and rsvp card, we used a shimmer ivory paper backed with a white glitter card stock.
The rsvp card displayed Erica and Adi's monogram on the top.

Both the rsvp envelope and the invitation envelope were a shimmer ivory to match the invitation.

The programs displayed Erica and Adi's monogram and were tied with a white satin ribbon.

The place cards were decorated with the same trim that graced the heart on the wedding invitation enclosure. All the tiny crystal beads give a diamond-encrusted effect.
Jillian wrote each guest's name in calligraphy.

The menus also displayed the monogram.
I love how each one had a lovely gardenia placed on top.

The sign for the sweetheart table.

Now on to the gorgeous dessert table we promised you!
Since Erica owns a bake shop, of course her wedding dessert table
would be a delicious display of decadent desserts.
She wanted to display a sign that said, "Love is Sweet." Erica wanted it to stand out but also be proportional to the dessert table. We had a few logistical challenges to figure out since she couldn't hang anything behind it (as you can see, the table is against the window). So we put our thinking caps on and figured out a way to make the sign part of the table.

We hand-glittered the letters in "Sweet," and adhered each of them to a wooden post, which was then inserted in a jar filled with decorative weights (white balls which looked like gum balls). We strung the "Love" portion of the sign on ribbon, tied it to two wooden dowels, and also anchored these with weight-filled jars. The "is" sign dangles from clear wire tied to the ribbon.

I think the effect was quite lovely, don't you?

We created the tags that labeled the desserts, and Jillian wrote the name of each delight in calligraphy.

We created heart-shaped tags for the favor boxes that said,
"Thank you for sharing in the Sweetest Moment of our lives."

The decadent spread

Well, there you have it! All the gorgeous details that made
Erica and Adi's wedding so sparkly and sweet.

We were also pleased to have our work shown on The Wedding Yentas' blog when they featured Erica and Adi's wedding. Check out the awesome post here.

Thank you, Erica and Adi, for the honor of being a part of your special day!

Christmas In July

I can't believe July only has five short days left. Where is the time going?

Thankfully we still have lots of summertime left here in California. Even so, here at 2 Hearts B 1 Designs, we are already thinking about Christmas....yes, Christmas!

I wanted to share with you some inspiration we are using to create patriotic-themed Christmas cards for a client this year.

To get our creative juices flowing, we've been browsing Pinterest as well as some of our favorite holiday creations from the past (more posts on these as the holidays get a little closer!)

At first thought, it might seem a little difficult to combine the ideas of Christmas with patriotism, but in reality, the two concepts come together quite beautifully!

In the design process, we've found it inspiring to combine the rich reds and greens associated with Christmas with the deep navy of the American flag.

I am also loving the idea of adding a soft, natural element with a light khaki or taupe color.

I'm thinking Kraft paper will be an ideal color and texture for this project.

{Party Details} A Sweet Engagement Party

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I thought we'd start out the week with a look at some lovely engagement party details we did for our good friend Erica of Sweet E's Bake Shop. Erica and her {now husband} Adi got married in November, and we had the honor of creating custom invitations and details for them. From the save the dates, to the rehearsal dinner, to the farewell brunch, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Erica and putting her vision onto paper.

We will feature more photos of her special day and the surrounding festivities in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

The images below are by Duke Images (courtesy of Sweet E's).

Erica wanted a lovely purple, silver, and white color scheme, which was beautifully executed with her tablescape.

The table numbers we created coordinated with the theme, and had a beautiful sparkle to them!

The tags we created for the favors showcased Erica and Adi's monogram.
Love the table covering! It looks like sparkling silver confetti.

Erica used her beautiful and delicious cake pops as place cards, so we created tags with each guest's name and table number to adorn the top.

The custom tag on this sugar cookie was written in calligraphy by Jillian, and it reads, "Will You Be My Flower Girl?"

Look how sweet she is!

Here are some images we took of the signage we created (before the event):

This sign was created with shimmer white paper backed in glitter pink and glitter purple card stocks.
Their wedding date was surrounded by light pink rhinestones.

Each dessert on the dessert table was labeled with coordinating tented cards.

As you can see, all the dessert table signage coordinated with Erica's theme.
She's definitely a girl after our own hearts, with a love of everything sparkly! :)

Thank you Erica for sharing photos of your lovely engagement party with us!

We hope seeing some of these ideas provide our wonderful readers with some inspiration on how to customize your special event!

Have a great Monday!

{Sneak Peek} Tangerine & Gold Wedding Details

This week at 2 Hearts B 1 Designs we're working on a very exciting project. Although we can't tell you all the details yet, we wanted to give you a sneak peek by showing you what's inspiring us.

We are designing details for a 1940s-themed, Casablanca-inspired wedding with a tangerine, gold, and white color scheme.

A beautiful idea, isn't it?

Check out our full inspiration board on Pinterest here, and stay tuned for more details to come!

We are also wondering, have any of you attended and/or planned a wedding with a 1940s theme? We'd love to hear about it! Share your comments below.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

{Tutorial} Cake Pops

Happy Monday everyone!

One of the cutest sweets "popping" up everywhere these days is the cake pop (pun intended...hehe)
If you haven't tried one yet, you must do so!
They're as delicious to eat as they are adorable to look at, and a nice alternative to a large piece of cake.

Our friends at Sweet E's Bake Shop make some of the most beautiful and delicious cake pops we've tasted.

Lucky for us, they recently collaborated with the Wedding Chicks to deliver an easy, step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own cake pops at home!

And the icing on the cake (pop) is that the tutorial features cake pop tags created by
2 Hearts B 1 Designs!

Check out the tutorial here.

Whether for a wedding, baby shower, or other special event, these are a must try!

Weekend Fun

Hi everyone!
Can you believe summer is already in full swing, and that 4th of July has already come and gone?
I don't know about you, but for us here at 2 Hearts B 1 Designs, it feels like this year is flying by!

Luckily I had a chance to enjoy some summer sun this past weekend with a new friend of mine, Shelly Ulaj. Shelly is the founder of the nonprofit organization Women Empowered, an organization of professional women interested in community involvement, professional and social networking, and supporting women's small businesses. 2 Hearts B 1 Designs is proud to be a member of this wonderful organization!

We met this weekend at a WE networking event at Malibu Wines, and our picture was posted on the Huffington Post.

Malibu Wines was a beautiful venue, perfect for a bridal shower, luncheon, or special event.
I can't wait to go back and show off this venue to more friends.

It was great to end the holiday weekend enjoying good friends, good wine, and good music!

What are you doing this weekend?

{Wedding Details} Brittany & Javier, Desination Beach Wedding, Cabo San Lucas

It gives us great joy and excitement here at 2 Hearts B 1 Designs when a bride we have worked with refers us to a new bride. It provides us with an instant connection, sort of like when a friend introduces you to one of their friends. This was the case when I received the call from Brittany and got the chance to meet her at Starbucks for a cup of joe. We gabbed about weddings and the vision that she had for her own.

I loved the ocean blue color that was her inspiration--it pops and catches your eye. So we decided on a metallic blue ink for the wedding addresses which brought some sheen to the matte envelopes.

For the reception details, Brittany and I had a consultation in which she came prepared with visuals and inspiration. The images and samples she brought expressed the style, look, and feel that she wanted to convey in her wedding and for her guests to experience.

As a designer, I often keep scraps or swatches of paper in case paper details come up in which I can use them and incorporate them in a creative new way. Luckily, I had the clever thought to tear out and keep the liners from Brittany's unused wedding envelopes. Which had a mosaic feel to it! I was able to use these leftover liners as sashes and borders on her reception cards.

I loved the pure joy that came to Brittany as she looked at the details we created, happily surprised and astonished that I could not only meet her expectations but exceed them.
We used pure white card stock and navy blue ink, representing the union of ocean and sky, and celebrating the union of Brittany and Javier.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day. These fabulous photos are credited to Gary & Courtney's fabulous eye; I absolutely fell in love with these shots. Take a look at more in their gallery.

The artistry of this photo is just eye catching!
Brittany and Javier had a cigar rolling station for everyone to take a puff and light up the night! It was a joy creating their signage.

Looks like two kids running off and getting married. How adorable is that!

Wrapping ribbon around each drink with mosaic border and calligraphy by 2 Hearts B 1.
Cheers to a beautiful day and a beautiful bride!
What a lovely table scape that identifies with the beach, sand, and surf of Cabo!

Menus tucked inside ocean blue napkins and pure white flat place cards adorning each guests' name in navy blue ink calligraphy.
Every couple should have a picture like this. Just breath taking!

Brittany & Javier had the clever idea of putting some Espanol into play with her bride and groom chairs. We made these decorative signs and adorned them with fun embellishments to capture the same feel to the event with shimmer blues that reflect the ocean scene.

The happy couple thought it would be a nice treat to have this vintage suit case that we made the signage for with distressed edged paper and postage stamps and travel themed related adornments to direct their guests to drop postcards sending well wishes to the bride and groom.

Isn't this a clever way of celebrating instead of rice or flower petals, the use of ribbon wands. So easy to create and make. What a fun picture it makes as well. It's a party! So glad that we got the chance to be a part of such a special day.
Brittany and Javier's wedding is also featured on Style Me Pretty at this time, take a look here.

Thank you Brittany and Javier for the fabulous shout out!
Congratulations on your beautiful day!
