{Frosting Friday} Bright & Colorful Summer Wedding Shower

As we approach Labor Day weekend, we come to the bittersweet realization that this is the "unofficial" last weekend of summer (although in Southern California, summer is far from over ;)

It's hard to believe we're already going to be packing up the beach towels and sun hats, for safe keeping until next year. If you know us, though, we can't help but feel a little excited at the thought of apples, baking, falling leaves...we love all things fall!

Our blog will be filled with fall-themed posts and holiday inspiration soon enough, so we thought we'd take the opportunity today to feature a bright summer wedding shower invitation we created this year, along with a few of our favorite summer-y invites.

One of our lovely couples is getting married in a couple of weeks. Soledad & Eric approached us to do their save the dates (which we'll feature shortly), and they had a couple's shower a few weeks ago. They wanted something bright, cheerful, and representative of the warm season we're in, and something unique to them.
We decided to do a non-traditional circle invitation, complete with bright hues of chartreuse, fuchsia, and aqua.

We created two different choices: one with the blue floral border on the actual invitation, and one with a blue card stock matting, with the floral print watermarked.

Which one would you choose? :)

We created these tags for a different client recently, but we thought they'd coordinate beautifully with Soledad & Eric's invitation, and make a lovely dessert table display.

And how perfect would these cookies by Glorious Treats be for this shower?

{via}

Gorgeous! We're totally in love.
You could even have these made on a stick, and have them coming out of a flowerpot "vase" to give the feel of a bright summer bouquet.

Swoon!

Summer, we're missing you already!

Grab something cold to drink & enjoy a look at some of our favorite summer-inspired invites:

Or how about this margarita-themed bachelorette party? Suddenly I'm craving chips & salsa!

And don't forget our paradise-in-a-box invitation...

So whatever you do this weekend, make sure you take a moment to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of summer!

And we'll see you next week as we look towards all things fall!

Have a wonderful weekend :)

{Calligraphy Monday} One Year Anniversary Gift

Pop quiz!

Who knows what the traditional one year anniversary gift is? :)

We'll give you a hint, based on the pictures of this one year anniversary gift we created for a client.

If you guessed paper, you're right! :)

Paper is the traditional first year anniversary gift in the U.S.

Bonus point if you can name the modern first anniversary gift!

Here's another clue...

Is your mouth watering yet? ;)

Chocolate is the modern gift; how is one to choose?

Wedding vows written in calligraphy is such a treasured, special gift. Get creative with your 'paper' gift and have your vows written out like the example above, then framed and displayed in your home, or have custom stationery designed for them (or for you as a couple!)

We love the idea of tradition mixed with modern elements, so why not spoil your spouse with a gift of beautiful paper and delectable gourmet chocolates? A gift for the eyes and the tastebuds is sure to please :)

And you could get extra creative with chocolates bedecked with your monogram in calligraphy:

See how fun modern tradition can be?

Have a wonderful Monday!

{Calligraphy Monday} Calligraphy & Art

Calligraphy itself is a form of art, so when we get the chance to blend our artwork with the artwork of others, it is a wonderful thing!

We had the opportunity to do that recently when an incredibly talented and creative bride approached us to help her with a one year anniversary gift for her spouse.

She created these magnificent watercolors for her husband, and asked Jillian to incorporate their wedding vows in calligraphy.

Check out the spectacular result...

Jillian used two different ink colors to play off the colors in the paintings and make the beautiful words stand out.

What an amazingly heartfelt, beautiful gift for your husband or wife.
Let us know if you need inspiration for your next anniversary gift; we are happy to help :)
We love starting off the week thinking about love! :)

Happy Monday!

{Frosting Friday} Custom Push Pops

I don't know about you, but this week sure has flown by for us!
As we gear up for the weekend, we thought we'd share a little sweet inspiration with these custom cupcake push pops.

These adorable treats are created by none other than our dear friends at Sweet E's Bake Shop.
And the custom tags are by yours truly! :)

The push pops shown were created for a baby shower, but how cute would these be for a child's birthday, a bridal shower, or even just a fun addition to a summer soirĂ©e dessert table?

The options are endless, especially when you customize them with our tags!

Let us know how we can help you match your desserts to your event :)

Happy Friday!

{Calligraphy Monday} Kraft Wedding Envelopes

Good morning all!

We hope you had a wonderful weekend. We can't believe we're in mid-August! That means summer is winding down and families are starting to gear up for back-to-school...already?! It seems like summer just started! But we have to admit, here in southern California, summer usually lasts until October, so we realistically still have a couple months left ;)

These last few weeks of August (and first weeks of September) bring beautiful late summer weddings, and we can't wait to show you all the lovely wedding details we've been creating the last few weeks!

To start off your Monday, here's a beautiful kraft envelope used for a wedding invitation, addressed in Jillian's beautiful calligraphy...

This fits the mood perfectly for a chic rustic wedding, like the one we envisioned with our inspiration board....

The use of kraft in your invitation gives great texture and color, since it's a neutral, and is a great way to bring in a more relaxed or rustic feel.

And don't forget, if you didn't check out the Glamorous Gatsby wedding shoot featured on the blog on Friday, be sure to do so by clicking here!

Have a great Monday! :)

{Event} Glamorous Gatsby Wedding Shoot

Gatsby.

The very name evokes images of glamour, opulence, and drama.

We are honored to share this gorgeous Gatsby wedding shoot with you today, styled by one of our lovely clients (and friends), Rachelle Love Jones of Fabuluxe.
Rachelle's goal for this shoot was to fuse Gastby-era glamour and old Hollywood opulence. She  showcases luxurious wedding styling with a modern California twist.

If Jay Gatsby and Daisy had ever tied the knot, we imagine it would have looked something like this.
So why not take a note from this golden age and add some glitz, glamour, and Gatsby-esque detail to your big day?

{via}

Get ready to feast your eyes on gorgeously decadent details, reminiscent of the roaring 20s and the air of opulence pervading all glamorous events.
You can just picture yourself at a fabulous party in West Egg, perched on a chaise, sipping a cocktail in the late afternoon sun.

Why not grab a glass of something bubbly and lose yourself in the gilded, seductive, and always intriguing world of Gatsby.

The London West Hollywood Hotel served as the perfect backdrop for the Gatsby shoot, with it's striking art-deco designs reflected in details from the floors to the furniture. It's modern sophistication and Hollywood chic at it's finest.

The stunning photos in this shoot are captured by Milla Cochran of The Rose Weddings.

A gorgeous view of West Hollywood from an upper floor balcony.

The groom overlooks the city, dressed in a striking black and white tuxedo.

Love these floors!

While the groom patiently waits, the bride gets ready in her boudoir.

This stunning diamond-ivory gown is custom designed by Loyce Wheatley of Grace Bridal Couture.
It's accented with gorgeous hand-beaded details that give it that perfect touch of sparkle.
The low back, drop waist, and jeweled edging bring a modern feel to this classic 20s shape.

The groom is wearing custom art-deco cuff links that match the bride's earrings, evoking a glamorous feel of high-society.
Both stunning pieces are designed by Astrid Mueller.

These luxe lucite chandelier earrings are a witty take on diamonds' timeless sparkle.
Engraved with a gem-inspired design, Astrid's Elizabeth earrings from her Possibility collection are the perfect flourish for a vintage yet modern look.

The matching Elizabeth choker is finished with a black silk satin ribbon, and channels iconic silver screen glamour.

The bride's hair was done by Nicole Moore of Euphoria Salon, and her makeup is by Sarah E. Jones.

Black satin gloves give a dose of drama to the bride's beautiful ensemble.

They also pick up the black satin ribbon detail in this lovely silk box invitation by Fabuluxe.

Deep burgundy red calla lilies and black feathers up the drama and opulence of the bride's bouquet, created by Nesly Palacios of Nesly's Floral Design & Events.

Tied with black satin ribbon and finished with a sparkly brooch, it's a striking contrast to the bride's soft gown.

How cute are they??

The gorgeous tiling pattern makes a striking backdrop for photos.

As guests arrive at the reception, they're greeted with striking details in deep purples, reds, and blacks. Table design is by Nesly's Floral Design and Events.

We created this rehearsal dinner invitation for a client, and think the romantic script, flourishes, and rhinestone details fit the ambiance of this Gatsby affair perfectly.

Place cards by 2 Hearts B 1 Designs

Glamour and shine in the smallest details will set your event apart.

Wedding vows, written in calligraphy by Jillian, add an elegant and personal touch.
What a beautiful keepsake, framed and displayed later in the couple's home.

Nesly's Floral Design & Events created the awe-inspiring centerpieces flaunting feathers, crystals, and opulence. The stunning vignettes amidst the manicured lawns and oversized chess board transport you to another time and place.

Another gorgeous wedding invitation option would be our leopard print invitation.
The blacks and reds keep it formal and dramatic, while the touch of leopard takes it to that next level of fabulousness.

We love how it coordinates perfectly with everything from the roses to the cocktails!

Rachelle and her team also styled another table with a softer, feminine feel.
We can't get enough of the rosette table covering...isn't it gorgeous?

This letterpress invitation by Astrid Mueller has a clean and modern design, while still evoking the style and feel of the 20s.

We are also in LOVE with the gold silverware (goldware?) bedecking the place settings!

These gorgeous little favors by So Belle Favors bring in the rich reds and a touch of sparkle!

Custom cookies artfully displayed on the centerpiece are by Amusing Treats.

What's more decadent and romantic than sparkle, satin ribbon, and pearls?

Gorgeous!

All table linens, place settings, china, and vases were graciously provided by CMC Rentals.

What a beautiful scene for a rooftop wedding.

Time to get married!

Love the oversized chess board!
The groom's all-black tuxedo is also by Friar Tux Shop of Beverly Hills, and the bride's gorgeous gown is by Grace Bridal Couture.

Love these images of the bride wearing a posh faux fur stole!
Talk about vintage glamour.

This unique cake is by the legendary Hansen's Cakes in Beverly Hills.
We love how the letterpress invitation is echoed in the modern cake topper.

What a fabulously stylish venue to hold a wedding!
It's a stunning mix of modern and vintage, a twist of California sophistication with Hollywood chic.

So many unique and fun details!

Thank you Rachelle for sharing this extraordinary shoot with us!
We're so excited to feature all your hard work and fabulous styling!
